Three Reasons You Should Take Family Portraits

Johns Family Portraits taken a Garrard Landing Park in Roswell, GA

With all the busyness of the upcoming holidays, work schedules, and errands, it’s easy for us to forget to take family portraits even though we cherish these memories when we actually take them or look back at our own family photos.  Every moment that you have with your family is priceless, so here are 3 reasons why you shouldn’t let family portraits fall off of your to-do list.

  1. You are creating memories- It goes without saying that photos often connect us emotionally. Families evolve over time as you get married, expand your family, add a new pet or when someone passes away. I know I cherish the photos and memories created with my dad before he passed away unexpectedly when I was 9. Family portraits allows us to freeze time and enhance our family memories

  2. You are documenting growth- Your family may have started out with you and your partner, but over the course of time, you’ve added children, styles have changed, you may even look different. Children grow so fast and family portraits are a great way to document the growth of your children and your family.

  3. You create a legacy- I don’t know if you’re like me, but old photo albums (I’m dating myself) have been passed down in my family and the memories of those special times or of those no longer with me are so special. I’m able to share photos with my son that have been passed down through generations. People he will never meet. During the holiday season, it’s not uncommon to sit around a reminisce and share stories passed down simply by looking at a picture. With the digital age, it’s even easier to preserve special moments that can be shared throughout generations in your family, which creates family legacy through images.
